Joelle Burreson

Joelle Burreson has been named the 2023 Echo Press Volunteer of the Year! Local nonprofits submitted their volunteer nominee and community members voted. The Echo Press announced Joelle as Volunteer of the Year in May.

Joelle has been a volunteer with the Central Lakes Symphony Orchestra since its inception in 2009. She was the chair of the original board, and has helped the organization grow to what it is today. Joelle is also an oboe player in the orchestra. She has volunteered hundreds of hours of her time and talents over the past 14 years.

Joelle particularly enjoys when the orchestra makes time to work with young people and partner with the fine arts programs in local schools. As a retired elementary music teacher, Joelle loves providing musical experiences to students in outstate MN who would otherwise not have that opportunity.

Joelle attributes the exponential growth of the organization to “having the right people in the right place at the right time.” Joelle is most certainly one of those “right people.”

The Volunteer of the Year was awarded a gift certificate to Elden’s Fresh Foods. Joelle asked to donate her gift card to the local food shelf. Elden’s matched her gift, for a total of $200 for the Douglas County Food Shelf. All proceeds from voting for Joelle benefit the Central Lakes Symphony Orchestra.
