When should I clap at a concert?
Many newcomers are nervous about when to clap at a classical music concert because our traditions are different from most other events. While we would love for you to clap at ALL of your favorite parts,
please hold your applause for the end of a piece. This helps us make sure that all the subtlety and nuance that our orchestra plays with can be enjoyed by everybody. Some pieces have multiple movements within them. These will be listed on the screens at the concert and in the programs. It is tradition to hold applause until the end of the final movement. If you are unsure, you can always take a cue from the rest of the audience.
