Randa Melhem, mezzo soprano – FEATURED SOLOIST: SOUL’S INSPIRATION

Very few singers embody the unequaled power and grandeur of opera quite like mezzo
soprano Randa Melhem. She is an artist who has always gravitated towards the most
passionate and expressive art.
Randa discovered her love of opera while studying Applied Mathematics and Statistics
at Harvard University in a student-run production of Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel.
From the moment she sang her first note as the Gingerbread Witch she found the full
power of her voice and has pursued a career in opera ever since.
Captivating audiences with the strength of her opulent voice, Randa has showcased
variety of characters and styles. She can traverse comic and tragic roles with ease,
balancing the innate qualities of her dramatic voice with the ease and virtuosity of the
bel canto repertoire. She also has a passion for early music, oratorio, and sacred music,
especially the works of Bach and Handel.
Randa has worked with some of the industry’s best-regarded professionals from
institutions such as The Metropolitan Opera and Teatro alla scala. She completed her
Master’s Degree with Mr. Stanley Cornett at The Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore,
MD. She currently resides in Philadelphia, PA, her hometown.
