Join us for this interactive artistic experience! The symphony commissioned an orchestral piece by Dr. Marcus Simmons, which he based off local visual artists’ work. This concert features the world premiere of the piece.
The other piece being performed is Pictures at an Exhibition, written by Modest Mussorgsky. It is a musical depiction of a tour of an exhibition of works by architect and painter Viktor Hartmann following his sudden death in the previous year.
The day before the concert, children will have the opportunity to create art based on the music they hear. Their masterpieces will be showcased at the concert.
